Help me help bring joy to people living with dementia in the Greater Philadelphia area and their families

Hi all,

I wanted to do something good and make the world a better place. I have been personally touched by the fact that stigmas and stereotypes prevent many of us from seeing people who are living with dementia as respected members of our communities. These stigmas prevent people with the diagnosis and their loved ones from living full and meaningful lives. They feel shame and discomfort because of the ways in which our society brands them. I felt I needed to do something to change this.

That's why I created a fundraiser to support ARTZ Philadelphia. Their campaign to eliminate these stigmas and stereotypes by showcasing the specific stories, talents, and personalities of people in our community who happen to have dementia diagnoses will create greater understanding community-wide of the fact that people living with dementia are *still here*, still contributing—and you can be a part of it.

Because of you, we'll be able to address in real ways the damage caused by the stigmas associated with dementia diagnoses. We will do this by showcasing the creative gifts and individual stories of people living with dementia in our communities in a public exhibition of art in November 2015 made possible by your gift. Because of you, we will be able to achieve greater understanding throughout our community that people living with dementia have not been lost, but are *still here*, still contributing, and still creating.
